Does this sound familiar?
- You're growing, but you're not keeping more
- You can't say which jobs or services really make money
- You're not sure you can afford the next hire, so you guess
- Cash feels tight even in a good month
- You're working harder than ever and can't see where the money goes
What does a fractional CFO do that my bookkeeper and accountant don't?
A bookkeeper records what already happened. An accountant files your taxes. Neither one is paid to tell you what to do next, so the biggest calls in the business (what to charge, who to hire, what to buy) end up made on gut feel and the bank balance.
That forward-looking seat is what I fill. I build a forecast of your cash, turn it into a plan you actually run the business on, and meet with you on a steady rhythm so the plan stays current as you grow. You stay in the driver's seat. My job is to make sure you can see the road.
- A clear, forward-looking view of your cash and your numbers
- A plan you run the business on, updated as you grow
- Straight answers on pricing, hiring and big purchases before you commit
- Someone who catches problems early, while they are still cheap to fix
Which level of CFO support fits my business?
I offer three levels, built as a path. You start where the business is now and step up when you are ready. The revenue ranges below are the ones I publish for each level; the exact scope is set on the call.
- Foundation (businesses doing roughly $1M to $3M a year): a documented evaluation of your team, operations and the financial drivers behind your results; your top priorities identified, put in order and tracked; and a monthly operating rhythm focused on what matters most.
- Growth (roughly $3M to $15M): everything in Foundation, plus a living financial model that ties your decisions to your real economics, a view of what the business is worth and what it would take to double it, a model refresh and priority reset every 90 days, and a full-day annual planning session.
- Scale (roughly $15M to $50M): everything in Growth, plus scaling work for more complex companies: your team assessed against the next stage, capacity checked against the growth plan, a shared financial picture for your leadership team, and early attention on risks such as tax exposure, loan covenants, customer concentration and insurance gaps.
Pricing is set on the call. Every engagement is scoped to the business in front of me, so we talk numbers once we both know it is a fit.
How does fractional CFO work fit with Profit First and bookkeeping?
They stack. Clean, current books are the base. Profit First organizes the cash on top of them, so profit, owner's pay and taxes are set aside on purpose. CFO work sits on top of both and steers the business forward. If your books are behind, we start with bookkeeping, because a forecast built on wrong numbers is still wrong.
